No storage needed?????

April 24, 2010

I just heard the cutest story this morning. My friend was telling me that he had gone to an auction and one of the items put up for auction was an old manual typewriter. When there were no bids on the item, it was put aside. His young daughter was with him and inquired about the item…so he explained what a typewriter was and how it was used. She got excited and offered the auctioneer a quarter for the item. SOLD! She immediately took it aside and her little friends gathered around as they began playing with the typewriter…minus paper and ribbon! When they arrived home she almost didn’t want to stop typing long enough to go in the house but she gathered up her new found treasure to show her grandmother. My friend heard her tell her grandmother, “Look, you can just type and there’s no need to store (save) what you type, you just print it out!”

I laughed….I love seeing things through the eyes of a child. A totally different perspective on things in life!

I love it! Your story brought back memories of when our girls were little. We liked to visit thrift stores and found Selectric typewriters that were a little of nothing, maybe $5…? They were working and I bought one or two of them. The girls had the best time playing with then. I had forgotten all about that. I remember when those things were cutting edge technology! ha.
